Abstract. International migration is one of the defining characteristics of the globalization of the 21st century. It has not only become a dominant factor in the formation and regulation of the global labor market, but also constantly requires changes in the migration policies of all countries participating in the migration processes. Taking into consideration the fact that during the last decades Ukraine faced a significant outflow of workforce, as well as the that visa liberalization with the EU promoted migration outflows from Ukraine, it is extremely important to develop new approaches to migration policy based on the analysis of Ukraine’s participation at the international migration system as migrant sending country. Given the above, in this article we analyzed the theoretical and methodological approaches to understanding international migration systems, which made us possible to choose necessary macroeconomic indicators for further empirical analysis. These were the following: the number of Ukrainian migrants in a selected country, the value of international trade in goods and services with the selected countries, the value of foreign direct investment and remittances to Ukraine from the selected countries. To select the necessary countries for our empirical analysis we analyzed the dynamics of migration flows from Ukraine in the global dimension to outline the main regions and receiving countries of Ukrainian migrants. Using the methods of systematization and cluster analysis of selected macroeconomic parameters, we determined the formation of migration systems between Ukraine and selected countries. We concluded that Poland, Germany and Czech Republic are the countries that have formed the most stable and such countries as Kazakhstan and Belarus have formed the least stable migration systems with Ukraine as migrant sending country.

Keywords international migration systems theory, dynamics of migration flows, remittances, foreign direct investments, trade, migration policy.
