Annotation | Formulation of the problem. The most important task of the agro-industrial complex of Ukraine is to provide the population with high-quality and high-quality food. A significant place in the implementation of this task belongs to melons – a sub-branch of crop production. One of the main tasks of this industry is to realize the high potential of watermelon productivity through the rational use of natural, agrotechnical and genetic resources, improving product quality and especially reducing costs of manual labor, energy and other means of production. The main material. The article has been explored the current state of development, production and marketing of melon production. The dynamics of world production of watermelons and their export volume are considered. The dynamics of gross harvests, sown areas and yield of melon food crops in Ukraine and the Kherson region are analyzed. The analysis of gross production and yield level of melon food crops by categories of farms in Ukraine is carried out. The directions of further development of the melon growing industry in Ukraine are noted and justified. Conclusions. Ukraine, having a huge potential, favorable climatic conditions, cheap labor can become one of the main exporters of melons on the world market. This requires: investment in the acquisition and accumulation of knowledge, training, productivity, efficiency and quality of products; construction of logistics around the marketing strategy of finished products; active, not blindly, but through targeted marketing research, market search for manufactured products and promotion of consumption in both domestic and foreign markets, and most importantly, cooperation of producers on the export of melons. |
