Аnbstract Field protective forest belts are one of the most effective means of combating desertification and drought, especially in the steppe zone. To date, there are no regulations that would determine the procedure for their maintenance and preservation in order to perform agroforestry. It is determined that field protective forest belts are recognized as one of the most effective factors of preservation of steady functioning of suburban landscapes in the conditions
of anthropopression. Hence the importance and necessity of intensifying work focused on solving scientific and practical tasks on the inventory of tree plantations of protective forest belts, determining their phytosanitary status, species composition of pests and diseases, introduction of modern methods of protection, optimization, quality improvement and bringing their condition to level of today’s requirements. They are an integral part of anti-erosion complexes in the agroforestry system as a whole. However, the state accounting of these lands is characterized by the lack of reliable, relevant and timely information about the real state of lands under protective forest belts, their value makes it impossible to make effective management decisions. Inventory of forest belts was almost not carried out, and therefore, data on their number differ. It should be noted that due to the uncertain legal status, most field protection strips were left without real care and protection during the land reform. In fact, no one is responsible for them, which has an extremely negative effect on their condition. The need for reliable information on the condition of lands under protective forest belts is enhanced by their special influence on the formation and functioning of the ecological network, protection of especially valuable agricultural lands, and formation of high yields of agricultural crops. It is necessary to develop management models for field protective forest strips, which will allow to implement costeffective agroforestry reclamation regimes while preserving the ecological function of field protective plantations, as well as to protect forest belts from destruction and damage. Carry out an inventory of field protective forest belts with the use of remote sensing materials and land management materials are involved.
Key words field protective forest strips, accounting, inventory, erosion, costs, initial data.
