Аnbstract Setting objectives. The purpose of the article is to determine the essence and composition of the “smart home” system, as well as to justify the feasibility of investing in its energy efficiency.
Research results. Based on the elaboration of literary sources, the author’s definition of the concept of “smart home” as a complex hierarchical system of elements of automated care of the living space, which contributes to comfort and energy efficiency. A hierarchical three-level system of “smart home” was considered: a house or apartment – rooms – a variety of devices and sensors that directly ensure the performance of daily routine tasks both indoors and outdoors, with minimal or no human intervention. The “smart home” system was also considered in terms of elements – devices and sensors.
Finally, the “smart home” system is presented as a separate element of a larger system – through the prism of control methods. Based on a survey of residents of two-room apartments with individual heating and underfloor heating, the feasibility of investing in energy efficiency of the “smart home” system was substantiated. Based on the study, other energy efficient measures have been identified that will help increase the efficiency of the smart home system.
Conclusions. Thus, due to the wider use of information and communication technologies – the introduction of a “smart home” – can improve the quality of human life, while significantly reducing the consumption of natural resources and contribute to the preservation of the natural environment, which confirms the feasibility of investment in this area.
Key words “smart home”, energy efficiency, investment, ecology, living environment, information and communication technologies.
